Rider Information Everything you need to know before booking.
Viking Overland journeys are structured, small-group motorcycle trips designed around steady daily mileage, thoughtful pacing, and properly chosen roads. Below you’ll find the practical details that help you decide whether one of our journeys is right for you.
Group Size
All trips are limited to 6–8 riders, plus Lead rider and Support Rider.
We keep numbers intentionally small. It makes border crossings simpler, regrouping smoother, and the overall experience calmer. You won’t be part of a large convoy.
Riding Style & Expectations
These are not guided sightseeing tours. They are structured riding journeys.
You should be comfortable with:
Sustained daily mileage (see each trip page for guidance)
Riding confidently on UK A and B roads
Riding in light European traffic
Following a clear group structure and regroup system
We ride at a steady, considered pace. No racing. No pressure. But we do keep momentum.
If you prefer very short days or highly flexible daily plans, our trips may not be the right fit.
Experience Level
You do not need to be an advanced rider.
You do need to be:
Confident on your motorcycle
Comfortable riding for several hours in a day
Prepared for varied weather
Self-sufficient with your machine
If you are unsure whether a trip suits you, just ask. An honest conversation is always better than guesswork.
Motorcycles
Suitable for:
Adventure bikes
Sports tourers
Touring motorcycles
Road-focused classics
Bikes should be well maintained and capable of sustained daily mileage. Tyres, chain condition, and servicing should be appropriate for the trip distance.

We use small, independent hotels or quality inns, typically 3–4 star standard.

Secure or monitored motorcycle parking
Comfortable rooms
Good breakfast
Walkable evening food options where possible
This is not luxury touring — but it is comfortable.
